Event Details

Starting January 4, 2010, GoodieRecruit became a member of the Come Recommended family of services.

Why GoodieRecruit? Why now?

GoodieRecruit is not your typical recruiting agency--far from it, in fact. Instead, we bring three parties together in a very unique way to achieve "next-generation recruiting for the next generation."

  • Employers: If you'd like to fill one or more entry-level positions (less than three years experience) in public relations, communications, public affairs, public policy, government affairs, marketing, graphic design, development, fundraising, sales or customer service, we will arrange for candidates (both within our Come Recommended network and outside of it) to come together for a half- or full-day "experience" and prove they have what it takes to receive an offer from your organization.
  • Candidates: You are either a member of the Come Recommended network or another individual we've invited to participate in one of our half- or full-day "experiences." You can expect to provide a cover letter and resume before the event, be given a specific assignment or project to complete during the event on which you will be carefully evaluated, and record a 60-second "elevator pitch" for the prospective employer about why you are the right fit for the position after the event.
  • Nonprofits: We know nonprofits can always use more volunteers, which is why we've chosen to partner with you to host our half- and full-day "experiences." But don't worry, we make all the arrangements! There is absolutely no cost to you--only benefit from the work performed by our candidates.

Why this formula? Because Generation Y, which currently accounts for approximately 25 percent of the workforce and will make up a rapidly rising segment over the next few years, deeply values volunteerism. Read: Generation Y prefers organizations that share their love of volunteerism.

Believe it or not, Generation Y is a group of young professionals that aren't letting this economy determine their choice in workplace. And we agree with them. After all, who wants to spend at least 40 hours per week at an organization they don't like?

We also know what we're up against--online job boards, traditional recruiters, your in-house HR staff--and feel what we do will make you never use the first two again and complement the latter.

All of that answers the why. What about the why now?

The unemployment rate is more than 10% nationally, and the number is even higher among entry-level professionals--all because of the recession. This has caused a dynamic shift in how organizations go about attracting new candidates. Organizations are forced to work smarter and harder, as opposed to spending as much money as they used to. We're able to offer a service that's cost-effective enough for even the smallest organizations, and are willing to put our results to the test against any other method out there.

Join Us in Celebration

The entire Come Recommended team is pretty excited about GoodieRecruit. So, we're inviting you to join us for a two-hour celebration on February 4, 2010 at Busboys & Poets. Appetizers and drinks will be served. Additionally, candidates in attendance will receive a copy of Heather R. Huhman's new book, #ENTRYLEVELtweet: Taking Your Career from Classroom to Cubicle, and a copy of Lisa Orrell's, The Generation Relations Expert, new book, Millennials into Leadership: The Ultimate Guide for Gen Y's Aspiring to Be Effective, Respected, Young Leaders at Work. Employers in attendance will receive a copy of Alexandra Levit's new book, #MILLENNIALtweet: 140 Bite-Sized Ideas for Managing the Millennials, and other gifts.
